Q:  Can I book an appointment with a specialist the same way that I would with my own family physician?

A:  No.  The clinic follows the guidelines set out by the Ontario Ministry of Health.  The Ministry of Health dictates that new appointments with most specialists are made only by referral from your own family physician. Follow up appointments with a specialist within one year of the initial consult do not usually require a referral.
